Hello Readers.
In this newsletter I thought I would go over some thoughts I’ve had lately about creating physical products rather than digital downloaded products. I also have a free video for you that shows you how to create DVD’s from video files that play in a DVD player. More about that in a minute.
Let’s take a couple of examples to illustrate my point. First let’s talk about EBay.
Not long ago EBay banned digital downloadable products from their fixed price and auction style listings. This put thousands of people out of the EBay business. However some of the more enterprising people saw a huge opportunity to make huge profits from this change.
You see EBay has a listing type called “Classified Listings”. In these listings you can place your own website code right in the ad along with a payment button – so no final value fees. These ads are seen with the regular auction listings with everything else. Now this doesn’t mean you can still sell downloadable products – but it opens the door to something else – selling products on DVD.
Do you remember when people used to sell ebooks for a few cents to get some feedback or for a couple of dollars to make some money and try and sell in bulk? This had the unfortunate effect of devaluing digital products to the point that they were nearly worthless.
But what is starting to happen now is a whole rebirth in digital product sales – ON DVD. Suddenly the perceived value of digital products shot up at least ten times because they are on DVD. Now people are making big bucks instead of pennies on (good) digital products.
Let’s look at another example. Recently Frank Kern launched Traffic Secrets Two – all on DVD. This item sold for thousands of dollars and he made a fortune from this. Do you think he would have made as much with a downloadable product? I truly doubt it.
So there is some food for thought. I have been thinking about this myself and may soon launch a DVD course. Think about your interests and how you could turn them into a physical product.
Now for the gift. I created a video series on how to create a DVD that plays on a DVD player using free software. You can download it here.
If you get to a bigger scale there is a service that does it all for you – including mailing it out. Check this out.
Have a great week.
